If you are in need of a good 3D model or an idea to develop your own, here’s a list of websites that can come in handy. Some offer free content, others premium, but they are all a good resource for ideas and/or downloadable content. We hope you find the list useful.

FREE MODELS

Sketchfab

With over 1 million creators and 1.5 million models divided into 18 categories, Sketchfab is the world’s largest platform for interactive and immersive 3D. They’ve got it all and you can browse through the models by day, week or month and they even have a safety feature for age-restricted content. Apart from individual categories, they’ve also got collections of models grouped by a common denominator. Take a look and make your pick.

Archive 3D

Mostly focusing on objects rather than characters, Archive 3D offers 8 main categories with 48 subcategories to choose from. It’s got anything you need from appliances and furniture to structure and equipment. It is a great resource for someone who’s working on architectural projects, interior and exterior design, but also projects involving characters (though less than other sites listed when it comes to the last one).

Clara.io

With a growing community of 100,000 + creators, Clara.io offers 3D models in 6 global categories and many more subcategories. You can browse through all the models if you need inspiration or select the downloadable ones if you plan on using them for your project. Character models can be found, but the site seems to be predominantly focusing on objects and architecture.

GHantee

All the 3D models offered on the website are royalty free. Here you can find Maya, Max, Blender, cinema 4D models, etc. grouped into categories ranging from furniture, props to trees, cartoons and more. The models are available in universally accepted formats and sign-in/ sign-up is not necessary. Have fun!

Highend3D

Highend3D offers 3D models in 18 categories ranging from aircraft and anatomy to sports and space. You can also set the filters to choose compatibility, detail level, features, geometry and resolution. The website contains over 66,000 3D models created by over 650,000 artists. In addition to 3D models, the site offers also scripts and plugins, among other things.

Free3D

Free3D models offers all its content free of charge for personal use. If you want to go commercial, all the content is licensed as royalty free. The models can be found in 12 different categories, predominantly focusing on objects, architecture and various shapes. There is a variety of Blender, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, Maya, FBX, Obj, Rigged, Animated and Lowpoly models you can choose from.

Poly

If you have a gmail, you can create your profile for Poly in a bit. It offers a big collection of 3D models in various categories ranging from animals and architecture to technology and transport. The content can be filtered by date, features and format so that you can narrow down your search as much as possible. It is predominantly focused on objects rather than characters, but you can surely get an idea while browsing the site.

PREMIUM MODELS

TurboSquid

With over 42,000 artists and 500,000 3D models, you are very likely to find what you need browsing this website. Their goal is to help artists save time working on a project and offer the best possible services to cater to this goal. In addition to the premium 3D models, the website also offers free 3D models in various categories.

CGTrader

CGTrader is a place where you can find 3D models or artists that can make them for you. With 23 3D model categories and over 55,000 3D low-poly 3D models to download, this platform offers a wide variety of themes to choose from. You can upload your own models for sale, get some for free or buy them depending on your needs. You can even get 3D printing models and have your faves displayed or used as you wish.

Unity Asset Store

Although there are a lot more 3D models for sale, Unity Asset Store does offer 3D models for free. You can choose from various categories and set the filters to get as specific as you want. What is really cool about the Asset Store is that you can also see the rating for every item which tells you how good the asset is, what other people use a specific asset for, etc. All the 3D content is divided into 6 categorizes, each of which contains several more subcategories. Have fun exploring.

Hum3D

These guys specialize in vehicles, electronics and weapons. They’ve got a great collection of these and working on some new ideas. Having been there since 2005 with 50+ specialists and over 40,000 satisfied customers, they might be just what you are looking for. Check them out!

Shapeways

If you need 3D printing, these guys are it. They’ve made their goal to “help create the future of 3D printing” and if you browse around their website, you can find lots on jewelry, tech, games and miniature with several subcategories each.
